Self-Care Goals 2018 Empowered #patientchat Highlights

On Friday, January 12th, we hosted an Empowered #patientchat on self-care and our goals for the new year. It can be difficult to make time for yourself, especially when you or a loved one is a patient. But self-care is so important as a way of managing your mental wellbeing, so we wanted to chat about how we can make self-care and wellness a priority in our daily, weekly, and monthly plans in 2018.

  1. Taking time for yourself is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Patients and care partners should focus on their physical and mental well-being as a part of their daily, monthly, and yearly routine.
  2. Accepting your imperfections is key. Patients and care partners tend to put so much pressure on themselves to do everything, but we should know the limitations and try to focus on the attainables.
  3. Care givers need to focus on their care just as much as they focus on the care that they are giving. You can’t help others to your full potential when you are not feeling your best.
