CLL & NHL Network Manager
Barbara Borrell is an active supporter for both diabetes & blood cancers. She is courageously living 78 years with Type 1 Diabetes & 27 years with 3 forms of incurable blood cancers-CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) SLL (Small Lymphocytic Leukemia) & NHL Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Barbara’s undergraduate BS degree is from Marywood University, Scranton, PA. Her Dietetics Medical Internship was at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. & her Graduate MS, MBA degrees were from Hunter College, NYC, NY.
Ms. Borrell worked at both Hospitals for Special Surgery as well as Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC for over 20 years before moving to Orlando, FL. Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 6 hours old, has made her the youngest diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes in medical history being born on March 26, 1942. Pursuing a career in dietetics/nutrition has given her the medical advantage in dealing with diabetes patient families. She has s written several articles as to living with Type 1 Diabetes as well as diabetes cookbooks.
Barbara is proud to serve as the Patient Empowerment Network’s CLL and NHL Network Manager.
