Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) is a slow-growing cancer characterized by an excess of lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) in the bone marrow.

  • Chronic means the disease usually progresses more slowly than acute leukemias.
  • Lymphocytic refers to cells related to or composed of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell.
  • Leukemia is cancer that starts in the blood or bone marrow.
