Thyroid cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the butterfly-shaped gland located at the front base of the neck. Some patients with thyroid cancer may have no symptoms at all, whereas others may have a lump or pain in the neck. Women are approximately three times more likely than men to have thyroid cancer.
