Urinary Tract Cancers
Urinary tract cancers affect the organs that make and pass urine. These cancers can develop in different parts of the urinary system and may cause symptoms like blood in the urine, pain, or changes in urination.
PEN has content for these types of urinary tract cancers:
Other urinary tract cancers include:
- Ureteral Cancer – Occurs in the tubes (ureters) that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. It is rare and may cause pain or bleeding during urination.
- Renal Pelvis Cancer – Starts in the central part of the kidney where urine collects before moving to the ureter. It is often grouped with upper urinary tract cancers and has similar symptoms to kidney and ureteral cancers.
- Urethral Cancer – Begins in the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body. It is very rare and may cause urinary blockage or bleeding.
- Wilms Tumor – Wilms tumor is considered a type of urinary tract cancer that occurs only in children.
