Bladder cancer is a common type of cancer that begins in the cells of the bladder, most often in the cells (urothelial cells) that line the inside of your bladder.

The most common type of bladder cancer is transitional cell carcinoma, also called urothelial carcinoma. Other types of bladder cancer include:

  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Adenocarcinoma
  • Small cell carcinoma
  • Sarcoma
